Skylight's device helps family members stay synced and manage the entire household, from meal planning to chores. As Skylight began growing quickly and entering major retailers like Costco and Target, they faced critical scaling hurdles. They needed a reliable partner who could resolve existing UI issues and specialize in native development to create the experience their users deserved.

Calendar, Lists and Tasks widgets so families see their schedules the moment they pick up a phone.
Refactored core code to keep the calendar fast and smooth across three different hardware versions.
Parental Lock to stop accidental event changes by kids, and Albums to organize screensaver photos.
Worked as an extension of Skylight's in-house team for over a year, accelerating their feature roadmap.

As Skylight scaled rapidly into major retailers, their React Native app could not keep up with what users expected from a premium smart device.
Skylight's mobile app was built in React Native, meaning the team could not build essential native features like widgets for iOS and Android home screens. Families expected the same instant access they got from other smart device apps, and the lack of native widgets was a visible gap in the user experience.

The Skylight calendar device had three different hardware versions in the market, each with different performance characteristics. The app needed to stay fast and responsive across all three.

As Skylight scaled rapidly into major retailers like Costco and Target, their internal team needed a reliable, high-quality extension to accelerate their roadmap and meet the increasing volume of new feature development. The retail expansion created a surge in new users, and the app needed to keep pace.

Working as an embedded extension of Skylight's team for over a year, we focused on critical front-end improvements and user-facing features that families use every day.
We refactored core code alongside Skylight's engineers, cutting app lag and ensuring the calendar stayed fast across all three hardware versions of the device.

We designed and built native iOS and Android widgets for the Calendar, Lists, and Tasks. Now families see their schedules the moment they pick up their phones.

Working closely with Skylight's product team, we rolled out features parents were asking for: Parental Lock to prevent accidental event changes by kids, and Albums to better organize photos for the screensaver.

Skylight launched 12 major features in 13 months, the velocity they needed to capitalize on their retail expansion. The rapid feature delivery kept the app competitive and gave families new ways to use their smart calendar every day.
Instead of a rigid Q&A, the chatbot guides customers through personalized conversations covering 17 key insurance questions, replacing lengthy sales calls with a self-paced experience that prospective customers can navigate on their own terms.
The core code refactoring eliminated lag and kept the calendar smooth across all three hardware versions, giving every Skylight customer the same responsive experience regardless of which device generation they owned.
Native Swift and Kotlin engineering gave Skylight access to a skill set its React Native team didn't have, unlocking home screen widgets for Calendar, Lists and Tasks and a smoother mobile experience overall.
